A week without Mom

So, as aforementioned, Mom left me all alone for a while this week. Everything went pretty well, except for the fact that I was about 15 minutes late to seminary on Wednesday. My bad. I also realized that the TV is a great companion and source of noise when you're home all alone. Unfortunately I watched it too much.

We had New Bee-ginnings on Wednesday. Yes, you guessed it; the theme was about bees. It was cute, but I was the only girl without any parents there. Man, Mom hates me. :-) Good thing I've been to plenty of those over the years, and I wasn't really hurt.

On Friday I managed to make a bunch of stupid choices. At the end of the day, I had gotten both Mom and me locked out of the house, I broke the garage door, and I was feeling quite lousy about how bad my day had been. I have a great friend though, because on Saturday Dionna dropped off a basket full of huge cookies (since I'd told her about my bad day). I love my friends!!

BYU

I finally got accepted to BYU this week! Yay! Thursday morning before school I had to print off something from my email really quickly before I left. When I looked in my inbox, I saw a message from CES Admissions. I really wanted to click on it and then go to besmart.com to see if I made it, but I would've been late to school! Even though I was pretty sure I made it, it was torture to wait until lunch to check my email!!

This weekend was All-Region Orchestra. I realize why I could never be a professional musician after weekends like this. I hate sitting through forever long rehearsals!

Mom's leaving this week to go plan wedding stuff in Utah. She must hate me!:-) Okay, maybe not.. but I sure hope I wake up for Seminary all right. I always hear my alarm (when I set it, of course), but sometimes I go back to sleep knowing that Mom will make sure I leave on time. :-{

I missed the fireside tonight. I honestly forgot about it unitl Rebecca called at 7:30ish and said that she was surprised we were home instead of at the fireside. It started at 7. Oops.

All State

Welp, try-outs for State were yesterday, and I didn't make it this year. I'm okay with it, but I'm sure I'll get questions about why I didn't make it. I'm not looking forward to that.

I joined Facebook this week, but I can't use it a lot because Mom is convinced I'll get addicted to it. I'm not sure why except that she knows things like that can be addicting. Hence, I can't ever get on it unless I ask permission from her first, and then it'll prolly only be 10 min at a time. I guess that's smart, but it is kind of annoying to have to go to the trouble of asking. It kind of makes me feel like a convict getting permission from a parole officer or something. Obviously it's not that big of a deal, but it is kind of weird.

I had fun getting to know Whitney and Jon over the break. I feel like I know Whitney better than I know Jon, but that's probably because she was here longer and she was here when less people were here; we had opportunities to talk with her one on one. However, they both seem cool and it will be fun going to Utah for the weddings.

A New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I have had fun with everyone here (including Lisa, but I couldn't have written that earlier or I'd have spoiled the surprise). Now people are slowly trickling away, but it's been fun having a full house. However, I thought I'd have fun composing a list of good things about having just Mom and me at home:

• You always get the cereal you want.
• The house is never too noisy.
• You have a 50-50 chance of watching what you want on TV.
• Compromise is a lot easier with only two parties.
• You don't have to load, run, and unload the dishwasher on practically every meal.
• You can eat in the kitchen again.
• You get to bed at a normal hour because you're not staying up talking with everyone forever.
• You don't have to wait in line for the shower or computer.
• You pretty much don't ever have to pass anything at the dinner table.

Now for a list of the cons of only two people:

• It's a lot easier to scrounge for food for two people, so you end up scrounging for a lot more meals.
• You eat the same box of cereal for a few weeks in a row.
• The house can get too quiet.
• You're away from family.
• There aren't many games for two players only.
• You have to clean all the messes that you make (instead of pawning it off on someone else).
• It gets boring.
• When one person is gone, you're all alone.
